Ffffffffffffflorida

Just got back from the sunshine (and lightning and tornado) state and I have almost gotten rid of the chill. This chill wasn’t from the people. Unlike the folks in NYC or Petaluma, the people in Florida are generally friendly.

Nah, the chill of which I speak was a true winter chill. While in Florida for four days I saw the temperature rise above 65° only NEVER.

That’s right. All last weekend was colder than the temp at which I keep my home thermostat. But according to a recent Science Friday podcast (and probably broadcast), this IS the result of global warming.

To put it in a nutshell – which I recommend doing with all complex issues that you can’t explain in a sentence (see what President George Bush does when explaining anything about the war) – the global changes elsewhere twist the environment in the same way a person might twist a towel to wring it out or twist a baby.

This means that uncommon weather is frequently more common and the pattern perpetuates more uncommon weather.

To learn more from people who know more about this than I do, get the Science Friday podcast or search for Al Gore on the Internet. He invented it, so he should know.

Now that’s cold. I’m sorry.

More to come…
