Another new chapter

Not as in writing a book, but in living a life and forging a business.

I’m now doing some social media teaching and training. Well, the word ‘now’ is a bit false because I’ve been doing this for a few years but I’m only notifying you of it right now.

New places to see me

Since setting this blog up as a temporary site for my ‘fun’ blog, I’ve created a few more places to read Jeff Cutler stuff.

They are: jeffsnotes.com, gretchenandjeff.com and jeffcutler.com/jeff. Bowlofcheese.com still rambles along fine as do the other 14 blogs of note.

So if you’re looking for me, just visit one of those places. Leave me a comment anywhere and I’ll get back to you.

Thanks! More to come…

Jeff Cutler IS Novel Ideas. Seriously

Now it seems that there are two other Novel Ideas companies in the nation. I’m guessing the count is much higher, but when I opened my writing services firm on January 1, 1992 I didn’t realize that the world would shrink so much as the Internet brought us together.

With my Novel Ideas writing site at Ideas2Words dot com – www.ideas2words.com – I attract a modest amount of business. But as you can guess, the reason my Novel Ideas site isn’t at NovelIdeas.com is two-fold.

One – the name was taken. Pure and simple. Novel Ideas is a bookmark company in North Carolina. Good name. Fair product. I was too slow.

Two – NovelIdeas looks like Noveiideas or NoveLLdeas when written out. Having two of the same letter – unless you’re google – in your domain name is bad news. So I haven’t pursued it.

But now there’s a writer marketing herself and her company – Novel Ideas – out in the western part of the United States.

What to do? Cease and desist? Nice letter asking her to give up the name? Combine forces and have two offices of Novel Ideas?

I don’t know. Send me your suggestions.

Right now I’m on a writing sabbatical, but still have some billing through both Jeff Cutler and Novel Ideas. So the company isn’t on hiatus and isn’t going away.

It begs the question of intellectual property in this age of fast-moving people and concerns.

Keep reading…I’ll let you know how it all turns out.

WordPress Intensive

I’m currently in a WordPress class being given by David Tamés. The class is at MassArt and is going to show us all how to start a WordPress blog, what we can do with different themes and templates, and how we can even use WordPress software to host our own blog out on other servers.

Eggs are dangerous

I just finished doing some Jeff Cutler editing on AlacraWiki and I decided to cook an egg or two for breakfast.

Well, the eggs came out a little salmonela-y, so I put one into the microwave and ate the cooked part of the other one.

Here’s what you should know, eggs don’t need a LOT of time to cook. And 22 seconds is a LOT of time.

SO, after I safely peeled the piping hot egg I cut into it with a spoon…AND EGG LAVA AND SHRAPNEL SHOT ALL OVER THE KITCHEN.

It seems that the egg continued to cook whilst I was peeling. Lucky I didn’t blow a finger off.

Oh, that Alacra thingy? Yeah, well the guy named Jeff Cutler really is Jeffrey S. Cutler and his listing on AW had him as Jeff Cutler. I wanted to add my listing as a Web professional and content provider so I had to adjust my listing to reflect Jeff Cutler and gave him top billing as Jeffrey Cutler.

I think everyone’s happy but I’m waiting to hear from the AlacraWiki people.

Oh, thanks for reading. I know the last post was months and months ago. To keep up to date just go to jeffcutler.com or bowlofcheese.com and follow along.

Thanks!

Jeff

Vanity

It’s funny that a sink in the bathroom and a process of self aggrandizing (at least I think that’s used correctly) are treated to a similar moniker…vanity.

I’m VERY sure that I have a healthy dose of this object as proven by my recent distress when I googled myself again and found that I had slipped back into second place in the search rankings for Jeff Cutler.

If you recall a post back in March or so, I did the same search and came up with the same results. It seems that as fame continues to elude me, some guy named Jeff Cutler is slowly making my name for himself and getting plastered neatly on the search universe.

Interestingly enough – and this is not a spectacle of sour grapes – the other Jeff Cutler has benefited because Google just changed their search calculations again. Now it seems that I better start updating my Jeff Cutler site regularly and get some links to it so it shows up.

Therefore, there are three links to my jeff cutler site throughout this blog. Hopefully Google won’t notice.

More to come…OH wait. I think that when I moved the site over here I lost all my photos. So here is a new one for you to enjoy. Well, there would be a photo here, but I wandered past a mirror and now am busy admiring my red hair.

Only a few more days

Well, it might take a day or so to get this blog in order, but Bowl of Cheese will soon be as photo-rich and feature rich as it ever was.

Feel free to leave a comment here – you’ll have to register at WordPress.com – or just wait until later this week when I’ll be back up with the new and improved Bowl of Cheese by Jeff Cutler.

Have you seen my mind?

Actually, my mind has come back to me just a few minutes ago.

While during lunch, I tried to update my blog – this blog – and it disappeared from view. So if you tried to read it during YOUR lunch half-hour, you probably got ugly error messages.

Well, I had nearly resigned myself to restarting Bowl of Cheese and rewriting from memory about three years of posts. Then it got better. I found a way to update the blog on Netfirms and now I am getting ready to migrate the whole thing over to BlueHost.

The only trouble that remains is the loss of my photos on the older posts. I’ll see if I can rectify that. But it’s a small loss if I’m able to successfully stop paying $10 per month to host only this blog and get it happily up on my new provider’s site.

SO, hold tight. Bowl of Cheese SHOULD be chugging along pleasantly by mid-week in the new location.

Technology marches on

Only a few hours after Clay Buchholz pitched a no-hitter, the talk on Boston.com and in the Globe was about technology.

It seems that the Google braintrust in Cambridge, MA has developed (or is developing) a GooglePhone to compete with Wifi devices (no Wijacking needed you crazy Wijacker) all over the world.

Here’s the entire article up on my personal site…

Now I don’t know what to do…maybe I’ll hold off on the iPhone, get my speedy new Macbook in October, and still buy a scooter as soon as possible.

Clay Buchholz DOES IT

On September 1, 2007, Clay Buchholz of the Boston Red Sox no-hit the Baltimore Orioles in his second Major League appearance.

I say, “Wow.”

He’s the first rookie in Red Sox history to record a no-hitter. That’s something else!

Hat’s tipped. Take a bow kid.

By the way, Sox win 10-0!!!
